One of the things Susan to do before lockdown is that she and a friend ran a craft group for people with learning disabilities. These were people who struggled to do some very basic tasks. Many came in wheelchairs. Few if any could hold a reasonable conversation with us.
That group ran for 4 years and during that time we learnt a lot. One of the things we learnt was that if people were able to work as a team even those who were profoundly disabled could still contribute towards making things. Hence the name Everyone CAN Craft.
Everyone CAN Craft is a Community Interest Company that has three interlinked intentions.
- To raise awareness that crafts are good for you.
- To support those will and able to set up craft groups that served different parts of their local community.
- To provide activities for adults with additional needs.
The first intention is met by developing a range of mugs T-shirts bags etc that can be sold at local markets or online.
The second intention is met by developing online courses.
The third intention is met by developing activity packs suitable for adults with additional needs that can be sold first offline but eventually online as well.
